Raspberry Lemon Cream Cake

My sis-in-law inspired me to make this cake for brother-in-law's birthday.  It looked good but the cake was overbaked.  I shouldn't have followed the instructions to turn the cake over as the top layer because the original cake bottom was too dry and hard.  The top layers of cake was too soft be assembled at the bottom because the weight of cream pressed them down.

I used the same recipe to bake the cake again and fold the butter and flour more thoroughly.  It finally came out to my likings after the 3rd try.

Nap at school

Teacher:            Nap time, kids!

Olivia:               No, I don’t want to.

Teacher:            Why?

Olivia:               That will make my hair messy.

Teacher:            …

Bedtime

I was tugging Olivia in for bed.  She was wearing her princess pjs.

Olivia:               I’m cold.

Mommy:           Do you want an extra blanket?

Olivia:               Yes.

Mommy:           You’ll feel warmer if you cover your shoulders too.

Olivia:               But I don’t want to cover my outfit…

Infomercial

Adrian was watching the Slap-Chop infomercial one day.

Adrian:              Mommy, please buy the S___ Chop thing.

Mommy:           Those things don’t really work.

Adrian:              But he said it’s so easy to use that even kids can use it.

Mommy:           You have to press very hard.  See the guy’s hand?  He must hurt so much after shooting the infomercial.

Adrian:              But if you buy one, you can get one free.

Mommy:           Those infomercials are very deceiving, they just want to trick people to buy it.

Adrian:              Then why did you buy that cloth? (Sh__-Wow!)

Mommy:           …

I just had to tell him that we learn from mistakes.

Apple Pie - Baking Arts Week #2

In the first class we went through all the safety rules, uniforms, tools and stuff.  We also made the pie dough.  They put them in the freezer for us. Then we made the apple pie in week 2.  DE-LI-CIOUS!  Crust was crispy top to bottom, filling was a little too sweet only because we didn't take the extra apple as the instructor recommended.  Love it!

Married

Adrian’s teacher’s name is Miss Bartz.  Olivia was talking about her at home and called her Mrs. Bartz.

Adrian:           She’s not married yet so you should call her MISS Bartz.

Olivia:             But she’s a grown up!

Mommy:         Being a grown up doesn’t mean you’re married automatically.

Olivia:             (with a smart looking face) OK, then why is she tall?

Mommy:         …

Olivia:              Because she eats lots of food?

Mommy:           …  Yes…

Spelling

Adrian was trying to test Olivia’s English.

Adrian:              How do you spell “Letters”?

Olivia:               (After serious thinking, she started to spell it…)  A, B, C…
